Genesis Consulting Wins Agile Coaching Award at US Citizenship and Immigration Services

Updated: Jan 29, 2019

Genesis Consulting has won the first call order issued under the $300M Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Services for Enabling Agile Delivery (SEAD) blanket purchase agreement (BPA). The Genesis team, which also included Nueducation, was awarded the Agile Coaching and Engineering Support (ACES) call order for the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) after a successful response to a unique and innovative Request for Proposal (RFP) process.

“Team Genesis is excited to support USCIS on its most critical technology development programs,” says Andrew Long, Vice President of Agile Enablement and Transformation at Genesis Consulting. “As an agency, USCIS is the recognized leader in Agile and DevOps implementation in the federal government, as well as innovators in Agile procurement, and we are both proud and humbled to have been selected as the first SEAD awardees on this high-profile agile coaching initiative.”

USCIS is one of the agencies in the Department of Homeland Security charged with enforcement and administration of US immigration laws. USCIS makes adjudicative decisions on applications for immigration benefits, including immigrant visa petitions, naturalization petitions, and asylum and refugee applications. USCIS is in the process of delivering a multi-year initiative to modernize and consolidate the systems used in processing immigration benefit applications.

Genesis will provide agile coaching experts to serve as contributors to the successful implementation of an enterprise agile framework within and across the USCIS enterprise. Team Genesis will be part of an ecosystem, collaborating with federal employees and other contractors in a team based scaled agile approach to create a collaborative culture focused on delivering mission value in the most effective and efficient process possible. The Agile Coaches will demonstrate extensive ability and provide hands-on learning in the use of Lean, Agile and DevOps methods. Team Genesis will immerse themselves in the agile teams, personify a pioneering spirit, and apply innovative thinking in novel and unique situations.

Team Genesis will apply their Agile Coaching Outcomes Roadmap methodology to help USCIS digitize immigration benefits and automate the end-to-end application lifecycle, replacing the current paper-based system. Agile and DevSecOps practices promote transparency, security, usability, and seamless delivery of value, dramatically reducing application backlogs and engendering public trust. "ACES is another award demonstrating the commitment USCIS has in maturing its DevSecOps practices to accelerate delivery of business goals,” said Sreeram Kombam, Nueducation's Director of Federal Solutions.

Headquartered in Richmond, Genesis Consulting specializes in providing Lean, Agile, Kanban, and DevOps solutions to clients in the Federal, State and Local and Commercial markets.
