The Challenge.

Toronto is Canada's largest city, the fourth largest in North America, and home to a diverse population of more than 2.9 million people. It is a global center for business, finance, arts and culture and is consistently ranked one of the world's most livable cities.

The City of Toronto needed to build a strategy to plan for a broad supply chain transformation to modernize the City’s business processes, in turn improving the services they provide their constituents, and to make it easier to do business with the City.

The first step in this transformation was to roll out a Supply Chain, Sourcing and Contract functionality of SAP. The City desired improvements in the procurement process by:

  • Improving the number of bids on a Solicitation

  • Reducing the risk of non-compliant bids

  • Improving evaluation time for bids to award contracts faster

  • Improving visibility and reporting on the overall process

The Solution.

The Genesis team provided Supply Chain Management, Procurement, and SAP SRM and Ariba expertise and solution leadership for this engagement.

The team worked with the City to understand objectives, process deficiencies, and opportunities to automate processes. The Genesis team was responsible for the successful completion of three major project deliverables:

  • Architecture Roadmap

  • SAP Implementation & Strategy Roadmap

  • Business Case

Genesis provided ongoing guidance and support to help the City finalize strategic planning initiatives.

The Results.

Recommendations to streamline the City’s source to pay processes.

Identified services procurement opportunities to enable service source to pay functionalities.

Defined Spend Analytics to enhance the reporting capabilities for spend volume, demand aggregation opportunities and supplier redundancies.

Outlined Warehouse Management functionality to provide flexible and automated support for processing goods movements and managing stock in the City’s Central Stores.
