Fairfax County, Virginia is the largest county in the Commonwealth of Virginia with over 1.2 million residents, and is the most populous jurisdiction in the Washington DC Metropolitan area (DC, VA, MD). The Fairfax County Public School (FCPS) system is the 10th largest school division in the U.S. with 198 schools and centers. FCPS serves a diverse student population of more than 187,000 students in grades pre-kindergarten through 12, speaking over 200 languages.
Aging technology was putting pressure on Fairfax County's ability to deliver best-in-class service at a low operating cost. Fairfax County and Fairfax County Public schools implemented SAP ERP Financials, SAP ERP Human Capital Management, and SAP Procurement for Public Sector (PPS). This implementation was intended to help government staff and public school administrators improve day-to-day activities such as financial reporting, purchases, budgeting and payroll.
Genesis Consulting was engaged to conduct an assessment of the enterprise solutions, architecture, county and schools strategic vision, and develop a modernization road map to enhance services, products and solutions.
Genesis Consulting was responsible for providing an assessment of the existing business processes, organizational structure, reporting and architecture and provide the benefits case, recommendations, and implementation road map.
